Easy to follow tips that will make your reception fun for everyone.

Don't seat older folks near the dance floor. Once the dancing gets started, your
older guests won't appreciate sitting in front of the speakers while the music plays.

Darker is better then lighter for dancing. People are less inclined to dance if they
think everyone is watching.

A small dance floor is better than a large one. People will feel more comfortable
on a crowded dance floor.

It's best to keep your bar in the main room rather then having it in a separate
room. The more people have to leave the room, the less party you will have inside
the room. This applies for desserts as well.

The Bride and Groom should always remain in the reception room and on the
dance floor as much as possible. If the Bride and Groom are up and having fun
on the dance floor, your guests are more likely to as well. If the
Bride and/or Groom leave the room, many of the guests will follow.

The Bride and Groom should never stand near the exit doors. This is an
invitation for your guests to leave. In fact it's best to keep the exit doors closed.
It keeps the guests in and the light out.

Try to have the rehearsal dinner two nights before the wedding if at all possible.
A wedding party that's paying the price for fun the night before can sometimes
less then excited to party on your wedding day.

Don't hide the wedding entertainment out of the way in a corner someplace. It's
important for the entertainer to have repoire with the guests.

The reception should end on a high note instead of letting it fizzle out because
people have become exhausted. It's better to leave your quests wanting more.
They'll always remember a reception they wish had gone on
longer.
